subsp. meridionalis Quézel &
Contandr. in
Naturalia Monspel., Sér. Bot. 16: 110
(1965), nom. inval.
This is a Greek
endemic, apparently restricted to
Mts Giona and
Parnassos in Sterea Ellas, south cen-
tral Greece. Large
populations still occur on both
mountains,
flowering from June to early August. Pho-
tos from Mt Giona
were sent by Gioula Drolapa from
Neraidoneri below
Mount Kokkodiari at 1850‒2000
m, taken on 5 June
2016; from Avzes, 1150 m, 16
June 2024 and from
Platylithos, 1300 m, also photo-
graphed on 16 June
2024, as well as photos from the
first discovery at
Trypi waterfalls on Mt Parnassos at
1250 m, on 9 June
2024. Although it is stated in Strid
(2024: 1413) that
the plants do not seem distinct from
A. ottonis subsp.
ottonis from Mt Chelmos, the photos
and specimens
indicate otherwise. Acknowledgements.
