Κατά πάσα πιθανότητα πρόκειται για την ποικιλία "carduifolium" του είδους Verbascum blattaria. Συλλέχθηκε το 1896 πάνω από το Μαλακάσι Τρικάλων από τον Sintenis και περιγράφτηκε από τον Murbeck (τον συγγραφέα των μονογραφιών του γένους).
